RATA – AI Text to Speech adds a Listen button and a player to WordPress posts. You choose the browser voice (works right away, no account) or Vbee AI voices (natural mp3 audio, created with your own Vbee account).
Requirements #
- WordPress 6.2 or later, PHP 7.4 or later.
- AI voices: a Vbee account with an App ID and Token (see Connect Vbee and choose voices).
Installation #
- Go to Plugins › Add New, search for “RATA – AI Text to Speech”, click Install Now and then Activate. (If the Free version is not on WordPress.org yet: download the zip file from the product page and choose Upload Plugin.)
- Open the AI Text to Speech › Settings menu.
Three steps to show the Listen button #
- Connection & account: choose the Reading mode. “Browser voice only” works right away; “Vbee AI” needs an App ID and Token.
- Display: tick the post types (Posts, Pages, docs…) and the categories that get the player. If no category is ticked, the button shows on every post of that type.
- Click Save Changes and open a post to see the Read to me button.
Using a caching plugin? Clear the page cache after changing display settings. RATA clears the cache of common caching plugins automatically.
Hide it on one post #
The post editor has a RATA box: tick Do not read this post so that post has no button and no audio, whatever its category.
